Fort Union Trading Post Park Store Clerk/Intern

1. Duties and Essential Responsibilities: 

  • Provide a positive customer experience with fair, friendly, and courteous service.

  • Resolve customer issues and answers questions.

  • Run register sales on Point-of-Sale system (POS) by scanning items and totaling customers’ purchases, collecting payments, making change for cash customers, and bagging purchases as needed.

  • Perform daily register open and close procedures

  • Maintain appearance of park store as needed and time allows:

    • Dust shelves/wipe down glass

    • Fill shelves from back stock

    • Tidy shelves and displays

  • Opportunity for interpretive training available as employee desires.

2.  Qualifications/Skills:

  • Minimum age 18 years

  • Friendly and positive attitude

  • Able to work with minimal supervision

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills

  • Basic math skills for making change

  • Attention to detail

  • Knowledge of the history of Fort Union and Montana-Dakota region is helpful, but not necessary.

3.  Position Specification/Physical Requirements: 

  • Shifts will be up to 8 hours per day, 5 days per week. Schedule TBD.

  • Provide your own transportation to Fort Union. 

  • Requires ability to carry boxes and items, and maneuver through 3 levels of the Visitor Center (Bourgeois House) and park store.

  • Position duration is 6 months.
